Senior Wireless Data Architect

OPPORTUNITY:

Sentaca is undergoing significant growth. An opportunity has arisen for a Wireless Data Architect with experience in the areas of voice, messaging (SMS, MMS, WAP…) in Seattle. The Wireless Data Architect will report directly to the CTO of the Americas and will be key member of the team which is responsible for evolving our Tier 1 client’s data services architectures & technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As a member of the Wireless Data Team, you will work with our clients on planning, designing, and implementing world class Wireless Data Networks and solutions in the mobile/cellular domain.

• Planning involves working with clients to understand key objectives and drivers, and aligning network capabilities with those requirements to develop an overall wireless data network solution
• Design will involve working with clients, network hardware, and software vendors to engineer the network infrastructure solution based on client guidelines and requirements
• Implementation will involve building, configuring and scaling the network infrastructure to meet the project requirements, potentially migrating or introducing a new service to the new environment, and finally transitioning the project to operations teams.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess both knowledge and experience in architecting, engineering, and deploying wireless data network infrastructure, and should have technical experience in these areas. The candidate should also possess strong project planning skills and the ability to interact with client personnel at all levels. In addition the candidate will be willing and eager to travel.  Key responsibilities shall include:

• Develop network detailed designs in the following areas: Voice (IPT, VOIP, voicemail, mobility), Messaging (SMS, MMS, WAP), Data (LAN, WLAN, VPN, and WAN)
• Perform Site Assessments of existing infrastructures/solutions and document as required.
• Managing/Direct the Installation, configuration and testing of network infrastructures and solutions
• Develop high-level network plans in conjunction with our clients
• Work closely with client and Subject Matter Experts to develop detailed network designs and implementation plans
• Train client operations groups to takeover implemented network infrastructures.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with clients.
• Participate in internal and client-facing meetings, prepare reports and presentations.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in wireless data architecture & design roles
• Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience with more than one product in wireless data, for example: IP PBX, media gateways, voicemail servers, presence servers, short message gateways, wap gateways etc. and integration experience with other applications such as billing systems, provisioning platforms, etc.
• Minimum of Bachelors Degree
• Knowledge and experience of some of the following telecoms protocols is essential M3UA, MM4, MM7, EAIF, SOAP/Parlay X, SMPP, SMTP, SUA, SIP, ISUP
• Knowledge of and experience in Unix/Linux,
• Background knowledge of the Java & C languages.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
